New Zealand gains one ranking position as Pakistan drops to fourth

Pakistan and New Zealand Skippers with test series TrophyLahore: Following Sunday’s one-all series draw in Sharjah, Pakistan has dropped one place to fourth in the latest Reliance ICC Test Team Rankings, while New Zealand has gained one rankings point and now lies two points adrift of sixth placed India.

Pakistan had entered the series in third position with 105 points on the back of a series victory over Australia, and won the opening Test against New Zealand by 248 runs in Dubai. However, a draw in Abu Dhabi in the second Test, followed by the Black Caps’ victory by an innings and 80 runs on Sunday, meant that Pakistan has dropped to 103 ratings points and been replaced in third position by England, on 104 ratings points.
New Zealand’s first innings total of 690 was its highest ever innings score, eclipsing its previous record of 680 for eight achieved in the second Test against India in February 2014. The result saw New Zealand increase the gap with eight-placed West Indies to 19.
