Announcement of record decrease in prices of petroleum products is a welcome step of PML-N govt: Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the announcement of record decrease in prices of petroleum products by Pakistan Muslim League-N government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is a welcome step. He said that the government has given the proof of being people-friendly by further reducing prices of petroleum products and won the hearts of the people. He said that people will get benefit in the real sense due to historic step of recent reduction in prices of petroleum products and PML-N government will take more steps in future to provide relief to the people. He said that decrease in petroleum products twice in a month is a gift for the people.

The Chief Minister has directed the concerned departments to take immediate steps for transferring the benefit of recent reduction in prices of petroleum products directly to the people of the province. He said that transport fares should be reduced with the same proportion the prices of petroleum products have decreased. He said that immediate steps should also be taken regarding reducing the prices of eatable items. He said that a comprehensive planning should immediately be evolved for providing direct benefit of recent decrease in prices of petroleum products to the people.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Cabinet Committee on Price Control should take steps according to a strategy regarding decrease in prices of essential items and transport fares after enforcement of the decision of reduction in prices of petroleum products. He said that provincial ministers, assembly members and administration should personally monitor the process of provision of petroleum products at fixed rates. He said that the benefit of recent decrease in prices of petroleum products must reach the people and warned that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

The Chief Minister directed that special teams should be constituted for ensuring availability of petroleum products at fixed rates at petrol pumps. He said that there should be no complaint about the non-availability of petroleum products. He said that a watchful eye should be kept on the situation and report be submitted to him on daily basis.
