ATC LHR III ANNOUNCES VERDICT IN FARZANA MURDER CASE

A-woman-stoned-to-death-outside-lhcLahore: Anti-Terrorism Court III announced verdict in Farzana Murder case today. M. Azeem (Father), Mazhar (Brother), Jahan Khan (Cousin) and Zahid Iqbal (Former Husband) have been sentenced to Death three times while one accused Ghulam Ali has been given imprisonment of 13 years. The verdict was announced by the Judge of ATC III, Haroon Latif.

Farzana was stoned to death by her father and family members on 27th may 2014 in the premises of Lahore High Court when she appeared in the court to record her statement in favor of her husband. Farzana received this treatment for her love marriage and the news was highlighted all over the world.
Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister Punjab had taken notice of the incident and made a committee under the chairmanship of Rana Maqbool Ahmad to investigate the incident and prosecute the criminals. The committee supervised the investigation and trial of the case and ensured the early hearing so that the murderers must be brought to book.

Rana Maqbool Ahmad in is message for the prosecutors has said that the decision of court will enhance people’ confidence on justice system. He congratulated the Prosecutors for their success in convicting the criminals. He announced awarding Special certificates for Chief Prosecutor ATC, Sheikh Saeed and Deputy Prosecutor General ATC, Rai Asif for prosecuting this case successfully.
