Profiteers get arrested but did not down the prices in the city

Vegetables-Sunday-BazarLahore: District Administration has continue its operation against the profiteers and hoardings but failed to down the prices of daily edibles .FIRs were registered against 33 shopkeepers on overcharging in Lahore the other day while 41 were arrested and a fine of over Rs. 5.17 lakh was imposed.

DCO Lahore said that the administration will fully implement the prices of daily use items and no one will be allowed to sabotage the mechanism.

Provincial Minister for Food & Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Bilal Yasin has claimed that government has focused prices of 18 essential items and availability of these items is being ensured at cheaper rates as per demand. Making comparison of some items, the Minister told that on November 18, 2013, the price of tomato was Rs. 113 per kg while on November 18, 2014, its price is Rs. 37 per kg. Similarly the price of onion was Rs. 51 on November 18, 2013, while its price on November 18, 2014, is Rs. 22 per kg. The price of Potato was Rs. 68 per kg last year on November 18, whereas its price is Rs. 58 per kg this year on November 18.
