David Miliband visits Punjab Information Technology Board

David MilibandLahore: Member British Parliament and Chief Executive Officer of International Rescue Committee David Miliband along with a 5-member delegation visited Punjab Information Technology Board at Arfa Kareem Tower, here today.

Chairman PITB Dr. Omer Saif while giving briefing to the delegation informed that government departments with the help of smart phones are providing modern facilities to the citizens in health, education, agriculture, revenue record, legislation and other sectors. He said that all books of syllabus especially of science subjects from 6th to 10th class will be available on internet to the students of important districts of Punjab in the near future and they will serve as a tuition centre. He said that the government and people will also be provided complete information about the diseases and correct data about the patients visiting hospitals and health centers in the province.

David Miliband who has also served as Foreign Secretary of Britain appreciated the projects of Punjab Information Technology Board. The members of the delegation evinced keen interest in the pictorial proofs obtained through geotag monitoring and smart phones regarding the performance of various departments helping the government representatives to gain knowledge about their efficiency and expressed the hope that due to these projects, Pakistan will become a role model with regard to      e-governance. David Miliband expressed the desire to cooperate with Punjab Information Technology Board for further improving these projects.
