Sports Board Punjab’s Swimming Pool Complex will start functioning soon

Lahore: Sports Board Punjab’s (SBP) international standard Swimming Pool Complex will start functioning in the next couple of months, this was stated by Abdul Rauf Roofi, the SBP spokesman, here on Wednesday.

Roofi told that the modern swimming pool was equipped with all international level facilities. “Alan Carr, an American expert, recently visited swimming pool and installed computerized software and electronic jumping pad and scoreboard in the swimming pool at Nishtar Park Sports Complex,” he informed. President Pakistan Swimming Federation (PSF), Maj (retd) Majid Waseem also inspected the world class swimming facility. Director Sports Muhammad Hafeez Bhatti was also present on this occasion.

Roofi informed that Carr delivered a detailed lecture to SBP officials about the functioning of electronic and software systems in the pool. “The modern swimming pool has been constructed on the directives of Director General SBP Usman Anwar. The rules and regulations of FINA, the International Swimming Body, have also been followed properly while designing this project,” he told.

He said that the new swimming pool will be one of the modern facilities of the country. “It will help Pakistan in producing several international level swimmers. Our country has plenty of potential in every field including sports. It just needs proper grooming and international level facilities and training. And SBP is doing exactly that to make the future of Pakistan sports bright,” he further said.

Roofi further said that maximum construction work of the pool has been completed and final touches are being given to this grand project. “The SBP swimming pool which is equipped with filtration and electronic systems, will be the first of its kind in the history of Pakistan. “There will be facility of warm and cold water in the swimming pool and the temperature of the water can be changed as per requirement of the swimmers and weather conditions,” he disclosed.
