Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the suicide attack at the participants of the Wagha border flag lowering ceremony was most tragic, inhuman and an attack on Pakistan and the patriotism of its people. He was talking to the media during his visit to a city hospital for enquiring about the health of the injured in the attack.
Liaqat Baloch said that the terrorist attack during the sensitive days of Muharram was most meaningful and exposed enemy designs. He stressed that the inquiry into the attack must expose the hidden hand behind the suicide attack.
He said the nation wanted an end to terrorism and it stood by the security forces in the war against terrorism. He however suggested that the security at sensitive places must be further improved.
Liaqat Baloch termed the Rs. Five lakh compensation announced by the Punjab government for each dead and Rs. One lakh for the injured as inadequate and said it should be enhanced.
The JI Secretary General said while the enemy forces were active on their Great Game to destabilize Pakistan and prove it a failed and an irresponsible state, the country was badly suffering from bad governance, price spiral n unemployment. There was a conspiracy to divide the nation on the basis of sects, racialism and regionalism and personal attacks were being made by political leaders on their opponents at public meetings in total disregard of political norms and decency. He said the need of the hour was that all political and religious forces joined hands to face the enemy at every front.
