JI and PTI are partners in the KP govt but independent in political decisions: Siraj ul Haq

pic sirajul haqLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has said that the JI and the PTI were partners in the Khyber P. coalition government, but they were free and independent in the national politics.

Addressing a press conference at Al-Markaz Peshawar on Sunday, he said that a political crisis was continuing in Islamabad although a big tragedy had been averted. He said that in the past, the confrontation between the politicians had ended up in martial law.

Sirajul Haq said it was appreciable that both the government and the PTI wanted to resume dialogue. However, he said, that the government had not fulfilled its earlier promises. He said that a committee had been set up for electoral reforms but the committee chairman should have been from the opposition. He also reiterated his demand for holding elections on the basis of proportionate representation.

Sirajul Haq deplored the criminal Pakistan government silence over the convictions of the JI leaders in Bangladesh and urged the rulers to pressurize the Dhaka government for quashing the sentences announced to JI leaders. He said that a so-called war crimes tribunal had announced death sentence to JI Bangladesh chief Mutiur Rahman Nizami a few days back while another senior JI leader Mir Qasim Ali had also been sentenced to death on the same frivolous grounds. He said that these JI leaders had been elected to the BD parliament  many a time and they had served the BD people honestly and the BD Premier  Haseena Wajid simply wanted to please New Delhi by punishing her political  opponents.

Referring to the Afghanistan situation, Sirajul Haq urged the coalition government of  Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah to hold dialogue with Eng.  Gulbadin Hikmatyar for a lasting peace in the war torn country. He said that a prosperous Pakistan was the need of Afghanistan while a stable and strong Afghanistan was the need of this country.

The JI chief said that the message of Imam Husain’s martyrdom was that the oppressed should be raised to fight against the oppressor.He appealed to the nation to show utmost restraint and tolerance during the month of Muharram. He said that a system of oppression and exploitation prevailed in the country and everybody was upset. The country was facing serious political, economic crisis.

He said the JI grand Ijtema a Minar e Pakistan from November 21 would mark the resumption of thee Pakistan movement for the realization of the goals before the founding fathers of this country.

He said that prominent non-Muslims including representatives of socialist, communist organizations had also been invited to the JI Ijtema so that they could have a correct assessment of the Islamic teachings and realize that the success and the salvation of humanity at large lies only in Islam.
