Shahbaz Sharif government is destroying agriculture sector:Ch Pervaiz Elahi

Ch Pervaiz ElahiLahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi has said that Shahbaz Sharif govt had destroyed agriculture and ruined the farmers through its anti-farmers policies.
He said this while talking to a representative delegation of farmers from Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock and Rawalpindi at his residence here.

Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that during his tenure 20 new small dams were constructed at a cost of Rs 10 billion which brought more 20 thousand acres of barren land of Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock and Rawalpindi under cultivation for the first time which changed the fate of the poor farmers.

Continuing he said that Taunsa Barrage was repaired and expanded at a cost of Rs 11 billion and for its management highly qualified staff was appointed, this step had not only capacity of canals of Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur had increased from 7000 cusecs to up to 9000 cusecs but after this these canals were able to run throughout the year instead six months previously, water theft in Punjab was sternly checked and water was ensured till tail for the first time.

Ch Pervaiz Elahi maintained that our these revolutionary measures in agriculture, Punjab registered record increase in agricultural production due to which people of the province were used to get wheat, rice, vegetables, fruits and daily use other agricultural products at cheaper rates adding that because of our govt’s farmers friendly measures people and farmers of the Punjab still remember our tenure.
