Punjab police to ensure benefit of reduction in petroleum prices to the masses

Minister HomeLahore: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a meeting of Provincial Ministers and senior officials including Chief Secretary and IG was held in which the situation after reduction in petroleum products was considered in detail and necessary instructions were issued for ensuring the benefit of reduction in petroleum prices should to the common man.

In order to ensure provision of substantial quantity of oil especially at petrol pumps, Chief Secretary Punjab directed Secretary Labour and IG Punjab to take measures in this regard and on the spot action against those involved in creating artificial shortage of petrol. On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, orders were also issued for keeping a watchful eye on the situation throughout the province and the concerned authorities to submit immediate report of the action taken. The meeting decided that decrease in the prices of edible items, fares and other commodities will also be ensured with the same ratio as that for new prices of petroleum products.

Provincial Ministers welcomed the decision of reduction in petrol prices by the Prime Minister and said that it will leave a positive impact. They said that contrary to the past, the present government has reduced the prices of petroleum products substantially for public welfare which is a record. The Ministers said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif wants to ensure maximum benefit to the public from this important step through government machinery and strict action should be taken against those creating hurdles in this regard. Chief Secretary Punjab directed concerned secretaries and IG Punjab to ensure necessary steps throughout the province. Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin, Agriculture Minister Dr. Farrukh Javed, Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema, Secretary Labour, IG Punjab and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
