Newborn babies to handover to real parent: Secretary Health directs to Govt hospitals administration

Lahore: Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik has issued special instructions to principals of teaching hospitals, medical colleges, MS autonomous hospitals, district and tehsil headquarters hospitals and EDOs Health for checking the incidents of kidnapping of newborn babies in all government hospitals. He said that MS of the concerned hospital will be held responsible of such incidents. Secretary Health directed to declare labour room and nurseries of the hospital as no go areas.

According to the instructions issued by Secretary Health, administration of government hospitals has been directed to make foolproof security arrangements, activate installed CCTV cameras and if required also install new cameras. Secretary Health directed that only mother and one attendant will be allowed after identification to go labour room and nursery of the hospital.

Hospital administration will handover newborn baby to his real parents and also maintain its written record. He directed that all EDOs Health should ensure implementation of these instructions at district level and administration of the hospitals should immediate inform doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and security officials about these instructions. He said that SOPs should be prepared in this regard and 100 percent implementation on it should be ensured.
