City Division Police arrest two men for misbehaving with women polio workers

women polio worker misbehaved in LahoreLahore: City Division Police have arrested the two residents of Badami Bagh for misbehaving with women polio workers.After CM Punjab notice of the incident.

The Chief Minister directed that legal action should be taken against the persons involved in this incident and provision of security to polio workers be ensured for checking such incidents in future. He said that polio workers are performing a national obligation for protecting the children from this fatal disease and such incidents against them will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while taking immediate action on the letter written by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to the chief ministers of four provinces with regard to implementation on polio action plan has directed Health Department to take all possible steps for eradication of polio.

On the direction of Chief Minister, a Cabinet Committee for Eradication of Polio headed by Advisor Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has been constituted. The Chief Secretary will be co-convener of the committee. The committee will take steps for eradication of polio and also review the implementation on anti-polio action plan by holding meeting twice a month and submit its report to the Chief Minister.

Shahbaz Sharif directed that the implementation on national polio action plan should be ensured according to the strategy evolved for this purpose. He said that routine as well as special campaign should be continued for eradication of polio and administering polio vaccine to every child should be ensured. He said that coordinated efforts should be continued on permanent basis for elimination of this fatal disease and providing polio-free environment to the new generation. He said that elimination of polio also demands same devotion and dedication through which we have controlled dengue by working day and night.

The Chief Minister said that it is top priority of the government to make Pakistan polio-free country and protect the children who are precious asset of the country from this fatal disease.

Therefore, all concerned departments should discharge their duties with national spirit for eradication of polio, he added. He said that besides parents, all segments of the society should fully supplement the sincere government efforts for eradication of polio and the role of Ulema, Khateebs and NGOs are of great importance in this regard.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Ulema should create awareness among the people regarding eradication of polio in their sermons. Similarly, public representatives, NGOs and other segments of the society should also come forward with regard to steps being taken for eradication of polio as we have to win the war against polio through joint efforts and collective strategy at every cost.
