Zong China Mobile Congratulates the Government on Becoming ITU Member

zong-logoLahore: China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak), Pakistan’s first and only 4G mobile service and subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corporation, congratulates the Government of Pakistan particularly Ms. Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for IT and Telecom, and  Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman, PTA upon winning a seat in the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Council.  The electoral procedure to select the 48 members for the ITU Council took place at the 19th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference held in Busan, South Korea.

Congratulating the Government and Ministry of IT (MoIT), Dr. Fan YunJun, CEO, Zong stated, “This is certainly a proud moment for the Government as well as all Pakistanis. On this auspicious occasion, I’d like to extend my heartiest felicitations to the Government of Pakistan, MoIT and Ms. Anusha Rehman. Pakistan’s ICT industry has made fast progress and has set a positive example in the region by enabling benefits of modern communication technologies in an efficient, safe, easy and affordable manner. Zong is grateful to Government for their unwavering support towards the ICT sector and for creating a viable environment for telecom operators like Zong to introduce innovative communication services.”

The membership is likely to allow Pakistan to learn from the international best practices and would eventually fuel the growth momentum of the country’s ICT sector. As a result, all telecom operators will benefit by developing agility to provide next generation telecom services.

The ITU is the United Nation’s (UN) specialized agency for information and communications technologies (ICT) which strives to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide. Through the development of technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and allocation of global radio spectrum and satellite orbits. The ITU Council acts as the Union’s governing body and its role is to consider broad telecommunication policy issues to ensure that the Union’s activities, policies and strategies fully respond to today’s dynamic, rapidly changing telecommunications environment.
