Demand of increasing basic salary of MPAs is not on agenda: Spokesman

Punjab AssemblyLahore: A spokesman of Secretary Punjab Assembly has contradicted the news item regarding demand of increasing basic salary of Members Punjab Assembly to Rs. 60 thousand and a proposal for enhancing daily allowance from Rs. 650 to Rs. 5000. He said that the news item is baseless and has no factual position as neither such an issue is included in the business of Punjab Assembly nor such bill is under consideration.

Clarifying the factual position, the spokesman said that a Member Punjab Assembly had submitted a bill on June 23rd 2014, which was rejected by Speaker Punjab Assembly and in this way, this bill should have been considered to be rejected since that time. The concerned member assembly was also formally informed by Punjab Assembly in this regard in July that his issue cannot be included in the agenda, the spokesman added. He said that it is in no way correct to present an issue which had been rejected four months ago and it was better to verify the facts and factual position from Punjab Assembly before the publication of this report.
