Labour Department is setting up a laboratory of international standard for checking weight and measures

Minister LabourLahore: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that the Labour Department is setting up a laboratory of international standard costing rupees 119 million for checking weight and measures according to modern demands where checking of weight and measures will be made through electronic and digital equipment by evolving foolproof and modern mechanism.

He disclosed this while presiding over a meeting to review the performance of Labour Department with regard to weight and measures at Social Security Institution today. Secretary Labour Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Controller Weight & Measures Hafiz Masud Ahmed and concerned officers of Labour Department attended the meeting.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar directed the officers and staff of Labour Department to discharge their duties diligently for ensuring implementation and enforcement of law of weight and measures. He said that modern methods and Laboratory should be benefitted for checking and verifying weight and measures.

Controller Weight & Measures Hafiz Masud Ahmed told that services of IT Experts and trained staff are being acquired for checking weight and measures at three lakh shops, more than two thousand CNG Stations and five thousand petrol pumps in the province. He told that 230 inspection kits containing modern equipments and motorcycles have been given to inspectors of all 36 districts. The meeting was told that Labour Department is benefitting from modern technology for providing essential items to the people at correct quantity and ensuring checking of weight and measures at petrol pumps, shops and business centers.
