CM notice tsunami of price hike in the province

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the increase in the prices of vegetables, fruits and some other essential items in the wake of recent rains and flood and sought a report from Provincial Cabinet Committee on Price Control.

He directed that the Cabinet Committee should take effective measures for providing edibles to the citizens at a reasonable rates and action should be taken against hoarders and profiteers without discrimination. He said that sale of quality essential items at affordable rate and provision of relief to the people is the responsibility of the concerned institutions and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that Cabinet Committee on Price Control will have to play an effective role for the availability of daily use items to the masses at reasonable rate. He further directed that price list should be displayed prominently at the shops to control overcharging.
