Seven thousand rupees each is provided to 50 thousand families: Mujtaba Shuja

Minister Finance Lahore: Provincial Minister for Finance, Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that a sum of 35 crore rupees has been provided at the rate of seven thousand rupees each to 50 thousand families displaced due to operation in North Waziristan while 35 crore rupees will be given on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to the flood affected families in Punjab as financial assistance before Eid-ul-Azha. He said despite difficult situation, Punjab government and the people of the province will provide all out resources for IDPs of North Waziristan. He said that 216 trucks of relief items including tents, flour, rice, dates, sewing machines, electric coolers and fodder have been sent to the IDPs. He said that 20 thousand gift hampers were provided to IDPs before Eid-ul-Fitr and Punjab government will also send gift hampers to IDPs on Eid-ul-Azha.

He was addressing a press conference at 90-Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam. Senior Member Board of Revenue/Chief Relief Commissioner Punjab Nadeem Ashraf and other senior officers were also present. Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that Punjab has a kindhearted leadership which is always ready to help distressed people whether they are of KPK or Punjab. He said that Punjab Chief Minister is personally reviewing flood damages as well as relief activities in the affected areas. He said that KPK government has not provided any financial assistance to the affectees of North Waziristan and its leadership is engaged in sit-ins.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman further said that measures are being taken for rehabilitation of flood affectees and satellite and helicam are also being used for this purpose. He said that immediately after flood a sum of two billion rupees was provided to district administrations of the flood-hit districts at the rate of ten crore rupees each for initiating relief activities. He said that infrastructure damaged due to flood will be repaired while all out help will be provided to the victims of flood.
