Dry ration, cooked meal should also be provided to the affectees: Shahbaz Sharif

CM PUNJAB-1Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of Cabinet Committee for Flood Relief which reviewed the flow of water in rivers, rescue and relief activities in the province. Provincial Minister Shuja Khanzada, MPA Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Senior Member Board of Revenue and concerned officials attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that in view of threat of flood, all necessary steps should be taken for shifting the people to safer places. He directed that besides dry ration, cooked meal should also be provided to the affectees. The Chief Minister said that the provision of financial assistance to the heirs of the persons who died due to flood, should be completed at the earliest. He directed that more helicopters and boats should be sent to Jhang and Chiniot. He said that the number of items in food hampers being provided to the marooned people should be doubled.

Shahbaz Sharif directed DG Rescue-1122 to immediately reach Jhang along with necessary equipment. He said that all necessary steps should be taken for protecting Jhang city from flood. He said that political and administrative team will have to work day and night for coming up to this hour of trial.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif today visited flood-hit areas continuously for ten hours and reviewed relief activities. The Chief Minister visited flood affected areas by boat and distributed relief and eatable items among marooned people. He also ordered to return protective boat going along with him and said that all boats should only and only be utilized for provision of relief items and evacuation of flood affectees. The Chief Minister also directed provincial ministers, public representatives and administrative officers to take active part in relief activities in affected areas instead of accompanying him during his visit to flood-hit areas. When the Chief Minister arrived at Kot Momin, there was great rush of affectees and the people and his driver was stuck up in the people and Chief Minister reached next destination by driving car himself. The people raised slogans enthusiastically.
