Lahore: On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab relief activities have been accelerated in 15 districts affected by rains and floods in the province and 8600 tents, 60 motorboats, 14 dewatering sets, 30 life jackets and 15 emergency lights have been provided to the administrations of these districts. Similarly, 39636 mineral water bottles, 19000 food hampers, 5000 atta bags of 20 kg each and 1600 rice bags of 20 kg each were distributed among the affectees. Similarly, 100 hygienic kits have also been distributed.
This was informed by DG PDMA Zaheer Abbas while addressing a review meeting. He said that district administrations are being provided necessary items immediately on their demand. He said that leaves of PDMA staff have been cancelled while flood related data is being collected. He told that Punjab Rescue-1122 has been provided 250 boats and 40 dewatering sets while Pak army has been given 829 boats.
Zaheer Abbas further said that instructions have been issued to DCOs to collect data of loss to human lives and damage to properties so that financial assistance could be provided to the affectees. He said that information regarding flow of water in all rivers, canals and water channels is being provided to the people immediately while Lahore Flood Warning Centre is providing up to date information to electronic media.
