Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said the chaotic situation which Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif have created will only end with their resignations, young resignation of the Chief Minister will come first and elder one of the Prime Minister will come afterwards, after resignation of Shahbaz Sharif in Punjab constitutionally Governor’s Rule will be imposed and a new Chief Minister will be elected.
Talking to media here and responding to various questions, Ch Parvez Elahi said that the prevailing deadlock will only end with resignation of Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI)’s march had started together from Lahore and in future also they would move according to common line of action.
He said by making a wrong statement in the National Assembly Nawaz Sharif had tried to push the army in the blame game, he never lets go away any opportunity of defaming the army, in the prevailing crisis when the army made a move on their asking then they took u-turn, govt after inviting the army to intervene itself had stepped back whereas the army had clearly stated that political parties should themselves find a solution, Nawaz Sharif always makes wrong statement, he had not done this for the first time, prior to departure for Jeddah his counsel Ejaz Batalvi had got signed by him ten years agreement, on reaching there he had backed out of this agreement even, at last Saudi Prince Maqrin during press conference here had waved the agreement signed by Nawaz Sharif and exposed his lie, Nawaz Sharif was neither “Sadiq” nor “Amin” under Articles 62, 63 of the Constitution and as such he could not be the Prime Minister even.
Ch Parvez Elahi further said that Nawaz Sharif commits rigging in the elections in quite scientific manner, in Elections 2013 former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Justice Khalilur Rahman Ramdey and the Returning Officers together had played the game of rigging, in this regard the statement of former Additional Secretary, Election Commission, Afzal Khan was on record.
He said all political parties had condemned the govt over the event of Model Town tragedy but the FIR registered even after two and half months was not according to the demand of the complainant whereas in the first govt FIR complainant SHO Faisal Town had stated that he had gone to hospital during Model Town operation and that was why we say that till the two brothers were in power there could be no justice, if such an incident had occurred in any other democratic country then the prime minister along with the entire cabinet would have resigned, if they regarded themselves to be right principally then they should resign and go to the court. He said we have decided to offer every sacrifice for sake of peace that was why not a single flower had been broken in the sit-in (dharna) till today, the rulers were demonstrating in apathy.
In response to more questions, Ch Parvez Elahi said “We are in contact with other political and religious parties for resolving political matters, till such two brothers do not resign we will keep sitting here like this, one part of the Constitution Avenue has been vacated for the honourable judges, we respect judiciary”. He said in the prevailing political situation no party had any trust of Mian Nawaz Sharif because of his past.
Replying to another question, Ch Parvez Elahi said after the resignations caretaker govt be formed in which all parties were represented which should conduct free and fair elections.
On being asked about his performance as the Chief Minister Punjab, he said we had undertaken and accomplished such works which were not done previously in the history of Pakistan, draw comparison between his govt’s five years and twelve years govt of Shahbaz Sharif and everything would be crystal clear, we had established Rescue 1122, patrolling posts and introduced, free education and provision of free medicines in emergency, his govt had taken literacy rate to 62 per cent from 42 per cent whereas Shahbaz Sharif had again brought it down to 43 per cent and incidence of thefts and dacoities had also increased manifold in Punjab.
