Govt should accept demands of “dharnas” : Ch Shujaat Hussain

Photo CPE 01 {Aug26-14}Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed have said that the govt should accept the demands of the ‘Inqilab March’ and Azadi March without any delay instead of looking for reliances, if any operation was taken against Dr Tahir Qadri or the participants despite giving the way by the sit-in then the govt would be responsible for entire consequences, N-League processions and meetings would only further deteriorate circumstances, the govt was facing present circumstances only because of its arrogance, adamant attitude and inefficiency, they added.
Expressing complete solidarity with Pak army and praying for the success of Zarb-e-Azb operation, the two leaders said that the army had offered great invaluable sacrifices for the security, protection and solidarity of Pakistan.
They said this while talking to media after meeting of the Defence Committee of the Senate outside the Parliament House here today. In the meeting during briefing about defence budget they emphasized on provision of more and more funds for the welfare and well-being of the Army sepoys and families of the martyrs.
Ch Shujat Hussain said that no single party or individual could solve the problem, had the govt paid attention the circumstances could have been set right three months ago, it would be all right if they accepted the demands now even, families of martyrs of Model Town tragedy should get justice, their blood would not go waste, objective of the Inqilab March was better the lot of the common and poor man.
Chairman Defence Committee Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that the Committee had expressed complete satisfaction over the defence budget. He said that wrong propaganda was done regarding defence budget which was only 16 per cent of the national budget which was essential for maintenance of defence power. He said we were playing the role of bridge between the civil and military and the atmosphere in the committee was always very pleasant.
Mushahid Hussain Sayed further said instead of dependence on Pak Army, former President Zardari and the Parliament, the rulers should pay attention to the demands of the leaders of the two sit-ins (dharnas) and hold negotiations, when these demands were not resolved politically then the people were forced to come out on the roads. He said because of his inefficiency and adamant attitude, the Prime Minister had been left with the powers of Mayor of Islamabad except D Chowk, he should realize these circumstances himself and pull the country and the nation out of crisis. He said they used to hang Zardari upside down and had not bothered about the Parliament for one year, now they were seeking their help and try to give wrong impression to the people by posing for photos with army officers. He pointedly stated that the Armed Forces were the protectors and torch bearers of prestige, protection and solidarity of this country.
