Independence Day Sports in full swingLahore : Several cities of Punjab hosted Independence Day Sports events on Friday under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab (SBP). People showed great involvement and chanted slogans to encourage the participating teams in various cities.

According to details, a floodlit tape ball cricket tournament was organized in Okara where Shaheen Cricket Club, 786 Club, Okara Gymkhana Club, Victorious Club, Akbar Club, Babar Shaheed Club, Asif Club, Shahbaz Club, Sadiq Naghar Club, and Rafiq Club won their respective matches. In Pakpattan, Brilliant Club thrashed Green Club in a football encounter. The title of cricket went to Stylish Club who downed Shine XI while Amna Hockey Club emerged winners against Tawakkal Club.

Hafiz Club demonstrated excellent fighting skills and defeated Shahzad Club in a football match played in Sargodha. The next Independence Day sports activity was seen in Bhakkar where Azad Club Klorekot and Fecto Club won their respective hard ball cricket matches. Golden Football Club clinched the Inter-Club Football match against Al-Quresh Club in Bahawalnagar. Bajwa Club declared victorious in Inter-Club Basketball match.

A cycle rally was arranged in Rahim Yar Khan in which over 200 cyclists took part. Big Brothers Club won the table tennis event in tehsil Sadiqabad. Pakka Laran Club defeated Young Fighters Club in a football match in tehsil Liaqatpur. As many as 40 players featured in a cycling race in Faisalabad. Ahsan Abbas, Saem Hayat and Waheed Ahmed got the top honours in this contest.

The title of Floodlit Football Tournament was grabbed by Jinnah Club. Mianwali Club was the losing finalist here. Over two thousand spectators were present in the ground. Arfat Club, Young Fighters, Almujahid Club and Orakzai Club won tape ball matches in Attock. Al-Fatah Club was adjudged triumphant in a football match against Khan Club. Al-Fatah Club also thumped TMA Club in another soccer clash.

In Chakwal, Tiger Cricket Club toppled their rival in a cricket match. A musical concert was also organized in Tala Gung. Fighters Club tasted victory against Prince Kala in a hockey match played in Jhelum. The football match was won by Lion Eidgah against Motamona club while Deena Combined scripted victory in a cricket match against Fatah Combined. The badminton matches were also organized in Jhelum in which Moeen, Abdullah, Hamza, Mujtaba, Haroon, Zulfiqar, Shahid, Junaid, Faisal Atif and Asif won their respective encounters.
