Punjab University holds flag hoisting ceremony on Independence Day

PULahore: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the Independence Day demands us to be knowledgeable, become soldier and ensure discipline in our everyday life like a soldier. He was addressing flag-hoisting ceremony outside Vice Chancellor’s office in connection with Independence Day.

Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Amin Athar, PU Law College Principal Prof Dr Shazia Qureshi, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Prof Dr Ismattullah Zahid, Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Additional Registrar Dr Kamran Abid, Resident Officer-I Dr Ehsan Sharif, Additional Registrar II Malik Muhammad Zaheer and a large number of faculty members, employees and children were present on the occasion.PU

Dr Kamran stressed the need to respect each other without taking care of religion, caste, color etc. The PU VC was firm that Pakistan will not only live on with success but it will become a rich country as well. He said that Pakistan had abundance of rivers, mountains, oil, gas, coal and other mineral resources. He said that unfortunately we did not get knowledge and we were not participating in creation of new knowledge. HE said that Muslims had no chances of development in India and the Muslims rendered great sacrifices to obtain Pakistan. He advised the participants to help others with open hearts.

He said that usury was prohibited in Islam and Christianity but a cabal of banking families, who were Satanists and did not belong to any religion, wanted to enslave mankind through the system of usury. He said crores of people were killed in WW I & II while from 1950 till now 1.4 billion people, out of which 70 crores were Muslims, faced unnatural death because of the conspiracies of these banking families and such things were happening because we were unaware. He said that we must get rid of usury system and for this purpose we needed financial experts and it could be possible if the government paid attention on it.

On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor announced to compile oral history of Pakistan Movement and Punjab PUUniversity by inviting eminent personalities every week and organizing lecture series. Meanwhile, various departments of Punjab University had organized various activities in connection with Independence Day.

Punjab University Law College on the direction of Principal Prof Dr Shazia Qureshi organized various activities to celebrate Independence Day with fervor. Dr Shazia Qureshi said that we had got independence after great difficulties and we must maintain unity among our ranks for the development of our country. Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies’ Director Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid organized one-day seminar on “Azadi-e-Pakistan Aur us ka Tahafuz” in which Dr Muhammad Zahid Khan Lodhi was key note speaker.

Dr Lodhi mentioned how Punjab and Bengal were divided dishonestly due to Hindus and Britishers’ conspiracy and the Muslims had to pay a heavy price. Centre for Clinical Psychology organized a colorful ceremony in which students presented patriotic songs.

CCP Director Dr Rukhsana Kausar paid tribute to Pakistan Army and lauded its sacrifices in fight against terrorists. Addressing a special lecture at Pakistan Study Centre, Director Dr Massarat Abid said that Quaid-e-Azam wanted to see Pakistan as a politically stable and economically viable state and to play a leading role in the Muslim world.
