Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Army and Pakistan WAPDA register victories

Pakistan Hockey TeamLahore: Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Army and Pakistan WAPDA have registered victories in their matches on the sixth day of the ongoing All Pakistan NBP Hockey Tournament at the National Hockey Stadium here on Thursday. PAF defeated HEC 2-1, ARMY outclassed Railways 5-2 and WAPDA beat PIA 4-1. 

Both HEC and the airmen adopted defensive strategy in the opening match of the day. They tried to keep possession of the ball for a considerable time. HEC blew the first blow through Kamran Maqsood in the 42nd minute. And were leading 1-0 till the end of the third quart. PAF regrouped themselves in the last quart and their Captain Saeed Shah led from the front to score two goals in six minutes. Shah leveled the score in the 48th miniute on a penalty stroke and in the 54th minute he scored the second goal to consolidate his team’s position. Shahid Pervaiz and Moheyuddin supervised the match. 

Pakistan ARMY played as a well-knit team and dominated the proceedings throughout the second match of the day. Their forwards made coordinated moves and their passes were brilliant. Railways forwards lacked understanding and often they were not at the receiving end to collect the pass. After played a goalless first quart, Mohammed Safeer and Haseeb Arshad made a smart move and Safeer scored a beautiful field goal. ARMY made another move in the 36th minute when Abdul Jabbar scored the second goal for his team on a cross from Mohammed Saleem. ARMy scored three more goals in niner minutes. In the 52nd minute Muzammal Haq scored the third goal for his team on a penalty corner. Two minutes later Habib-ur-Rehman scored a field goal and Safeer struck the final blow in the 60th minute. Railways awaked from deep slumber in the last quart amid slackness of their opponents and tried hard to salvage their image. Aleem got a pass from Adeel Latif in the D and scored the first goal for his team through a gentle deflection. In the 57th minute Adeel Latif deflected the ball into the net on Rizwan’s pass. Mir Hamza and Manawwar Hussain were the fied umpires.

WAPDA beat strong PIA in the last match of the day. WAPDA forwards made an immediate attack in the third minute of the match which brought PIA under pressure. Mohammed Suleman scored a field goal. Just moments befre the end of secondquart WAPDA’s Captain Mohammed Imran  consolidated his team’s position with a field goal. Five minutes later Mohammed Jaffar got a pass in the D and netted the ball into the goalpost. Mohammed Ijaz scored the fourth goal for WAPDA in the 34th minute. PIA’s solitary goal was scored by Abu Bakr in the last minute of the match. Kamran Sharif and Asghar Ali supervised the match.
