Lahore: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz presided over a function held in connection with Independence Day celebrations under the aegis of Pakistan Muslim League-N at Muslim League House, Muslim Town, Lahore, today.
Addressing the function, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that Muslim League achieved a separate homeland through great struggle under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. She said that as a result of long struggle by our forefathers during Pakistan Movement, we are celebrating Independence Day. She said, in fact, holding of such functions are aimed at paying tributes to the struggle and sacrifices of the leaders of Pakistan Movement. Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that we have to work jointly for achieving the objectives of creation of Pakistan and materializing the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. She said that we have to pledge on this day to utilize all our energies for the development, prosperity and stability of the country.
PML-N MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik, women assembly members and women workers attended the function. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity and solidarity of the country. Cake was cut and national flag was hoisted.
