Lahore: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights, Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that elimination of terrorism and maintenance of peace is essential for promotion of investment and business activities and all segments of society should play their due role in this regard.
He was talking to President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Engineer Sohail Lashari during a meeting at Lahore Chamber here today. Vice President of Lahore Chamber Kashif Anwar, Assembly Members Mary Gill, Kanji Ram, Shahzad Munshi and others were also present on the occasion.
The Minister said that peace is of paramount importance for economic development and love for Pakistan demands that the country should be strengthened and transformed in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.
The Minister said that the role of business community is of key importance in the present situation. He said that Punjab government is fully encouraging investment in the province. He said that collective efforts should be made for strengthening of institutions as it is necessary for national development. He also highlighted the measures taken by Punjab government for the welfare and betterment of minorities.
Khalil Tahir Sindhu further said that besides development of education and health sectors, Punjab government is also taking measures for the promotion of religious harmony in the society. He said that all religions teach tolerance and brotherhood and implementation of these teachings can help make society a haven of peace.
President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sohail Lashari thanked the Minister for visiting the chamber. He said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and has raised its voice at every forum for upholding of human values. He said that constitution of Pakistan ensures protection of the rights of minorities.
