Ombudsman Punjab gives a good news to 20 thousands students of BISE Sahiwal

Javaid-Mehmood-ombudsman-PunjabLahore: Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood has ordered Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sahiwal to give 4 marks in Urdu Paper- A to all the students appeared in Intermediate part-1 examination 2013 as these 4 marks could not be given due to technical fault of BISE Sahiwal and students should not suffer due to this blunder. He has also directed Chairman BISE Sahiwal to submit a compliance report to Ombudsman Office within one month.

According to details there was a technical fault in application of key in Urdu-A paper (Second Group) during the Examinations of Intermediate Part-1 due which all the students appeared in second group were deprived of 4 marks of Question No.1. Ombudsman Punjab directed Advisor Sahiwal Rana Ahmad Hussain to probe the matter. BISE Sahiwal admitted its blunder during inquiry and informed that Assistant Professor, responsible for preparing key for Question No.1 is disqualified for 2 years and 682 students, applied for addition marks within 15 days have been entertained while the rest are refused as per rules.

Ombudsman Punjab rejected the plea of BISE Sahiwal and said that the rules mentioned were framed for re-checking of the papers. Re-checking of papers rules does not support the argument of the BISE Sahiwal as now is the issue of a technical fault committed and confessed by the BISE Sahiwal which has affected all the students by not giving 4 marks. In case under consideration, applying for re-checking or otherwise does not contain any worth, said Ombudsman Punjab. BISE Sahiwal punished an Assistant Professor for a fault committed by the BISE and now intends to punish students for its own mistake.

Ombudsman Punjab ordered Chairman BISE Sahiwal to give 4 marks to 20 thousand students appeared in Intermediate Part–1 Examinations, Second Group in Urdu–A Paper as all the responsibility of error and blunder rests on BISE Sahiwal. After confession, the right of students for 4 marks is established and they cannot be deprived of their right, said Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood.
