CNG outlets in Punjab would provide fuel for 48 hours a week: Pervaiz Khan Khattak

Lahore: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Monday lauded the initiatives of the government to revive the struggling Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) industry worth Rs 450 billion.

The CNG industry has been facing troubles since years owing to reduced supply of natural gas and other issues creating problems for consumers and putting investments at stake but now situation is taking a positive turn, said Central Chairman of APCNGA Pervaiz Khan Khattak.

In a statement issued here today he said that now the CNG outlets in Punjab would provide fuel for 48 hours a week on Monday and Thursday for 24 hours a day while earlier CNG stations were allowed to sell fuel for 18 hours only.

He said that government should permit sale of CNG for another 24 hours a week to keep industry afloat and reduce the miseries of masses dependent on clean fuel.

Moreover, Pervaiz Khattak said that the issue of low pressure must be resolved on priority which will have a positive impact on oil import bill, environment and fares.

The leader of the CNG sector said that the government is to allow the CNG sector to import LNG from Qatar soon which would be sold as CNG in the province of Punjab.

This move will transform CNG sector to become largest CNG importer ensuring availability to the affordable clean fuel in the CNG outlets for seven days a week, said Khattak.

The government would be able to save natural gas which would be diverted to the power sector reducing energy crisis which will be a win win situation for all the stakeholders, he added.  

Pervaiz Khattak said that the government has decided to deregulate the LNG price which will expedite whole process and make things easier for investors.
