CM orders for fool proof security on Eid

CM PUNJAB-3Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that all out measures are being taken for the protection of life and property of citizens as it is the prime responsibility of the government. He issued instructions to police to make foolproof security arrangements on the occasion of the night before Eid and Eid-ul-Fitr and additional police force be deployed at shopping centers, plazas and markets. He also directed that special attention should be paid to the security of mosques, Imam Barghas and Eid congregations in the province.

He was presiding over a high level meeting here today to review law and order situation in the province and security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr. Secretary Home and Inspector General Police while giving a briefing informed that 42 thousand police personnel have been deputed for security on Eid.

The Chief Minister directed that the security plan evolved for this purpose should be fully implemented and law enforcement agencies should maintain a close coordination. He directed that senior police officers should personally remain in the field to supervise security measures.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the law banning display of firearms should be strictly implemented and police officers should remain fully alert besides a close mutual coordination should be maintained. He said that foolproof security measures should be made for Eid congregations as it is the need of the hour and law enforcement agencies should perform their duties efficiently. Initial report regarding Gujranwala incident was also presented to the meeting.

The Chief Minister observed that the incident could be avoided if the police had taken timely measures. Provincial Law Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and concerned officers were present on the occasion.
