TMOs to ensure implementation of SOPs regarding dengue

MPA ch shahbazLahore: All Town Municipal Officers of Lahore have been directed to ensure 100 per cent implementation on SOP specified for under-construction buildings, tyre shops, junkyards and nurseries in their respective areas and seal the business centers violating the dengue laws.

This decision was taken at a special meeting regarding dengue presided over by Members Provincial Assembly Khawaja Imran Nazir and Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed in the office of Secretary Environment here today. Secretary Environment Muhammad Anwar Rasheed, all TMOs and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Secretary Environment Muhammad Anwar Rasheed said that the staff for dengue duty will remain present as usual during Eid holidays and anti-dengue activities will be continued as per routine. He stressed upon TMOs to make cleanliness arrangements of all graveyards three days earlier before start of eight Eid holidays. He said that arrangements of drainage out of water should also be made. He directed Town Officers to check junkyards, nurseries, under- construction buildings and tyre shops through union council secretaries on daily basis and submit report to his office.

Kh. Imran Nazir said that only those junkyards will be allowed to work which will follow the government instructions regarding anti-dengue. He directed that notices should be issued again to the owners of properties violating dengue laws and in case they did not follow the SOP, properties should be sealed and cases be registered against them.

Ch. Shahbaz directed TMOs to warn the owners of junkyards of their respective areas. He said that an employee must be present in the junkyard during Eid holidays so that in case of rain, he could drain out the water from the junkyard and also get checked junkyard from the inspection teams.

Secretary Environment Muhammad Anwar Rasheed further said that the junkyards in open and covered places should be categorized as A, B and C. He said that all TMOs should send dengue virus report to his office on daily basis otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
