Another projected completed in Mayo Hospital with the funding of philanthropists

Khawaja Salman Rafique 2Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafique and Chief Secretary Punjab Naveed Akram Cheema inaugurated various development projects in Mayo Hospital which have been completed with the financial assistance of philanthropists by a sum of Rs.354 million have been provided by different donors for development work.

The projects which have been completed in Mayo Hospital with the financial assistance of charity donors included setting up kidney dialysis centre in Nephrology Department, construction of roads in outdoor, construction of one floor at paeditric department building, installation of tube-well, construction of mosque, provision of meal toKhawaja Salman Rafique 1 1600 patients twice of day, upgradation of orthopedic and traumatology department, etc.  Addressing the inaugural ceremony Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema said though the government has enhanced health budget by 16 percent yet there is a need that philanthropists and private sector should come forward for providing best treatment facilities to the poor and deserving patients. He said that spending millions of rupees on the welfare of poor and needy persons for earning the blessings of Allah Almighty is a great humanitarian service and these people are praiseworthy.

Kh. Salman Rafique said that charity donors and philanthropists are the real heros who are spending millions of rupees without any personal interest for the welfare of others. He said that government has allocated rupees 121 billion for health budget and special attention is being paid to the prevention of diseases. He lauded the services of philanthropists who have provided 354 million for the Mayo Hospital development projects. He said that today once again there is a need to serve the country with the spirit of Pakistan Movement.

Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh. Imran Nazir said that saving other lives and spending own resources for others is the real “Jehad” and such people are to be followed. The host of the event Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awais said that the function has been organized to commemorate the services of philanthropists and social workers. Besides Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Majid Zahoor MPA, Secretary Cooperatives Babar Hayat Tarar, President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari, Wasif Nagi, Manoo Bhai, Ghais ud Din alias Baba Jee, philanthropists, representatives of different NGOs, journalists and a number of doctors attended the function.
