Fund-raising for IDPs discussed in SBP Meeting

Lahore: The fund-raising campaign for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan was discussed in an important meeting held at Sports Board Punjab (SBP) here on Thursday.

Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar chaired the meeting which was attended by MPA Tahia Noon, Zafar Bhatti, Additional Secretary Information Syed Fazal Abbas, Director Punjab Arts Council Ch Asif, Deputy Director Al-Hamra Arts Council Zulfiqar Zulfi, cinema owners and representatives of Cinema Association.

Different ways and means like cinema shows and walk were discussed in the meeting to raise funds for the needy IDPs. The option of selling paintings and handicrafts both within and outside the country was also come under discussion.

Addressing the meeting, DG Usman Anwar said that SBP will go to every extent to help IDPs of North Waziristan. “They are our brothers and that’s why SBP is playing active part for raising funds for them,” he added. DG asked the participants of the meeting to play an effective role in this noble cause.

MPA Tahia Noon, on this occasion, said that IDPs were really in precarious condition these days. “Their testing period may take long time, so we must help them to the maximum,” she further said.
