Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin has said that the measures taken by Punjab government under Ramazan package have yielded positive results. He said that strict monitoring by district administration has helped stabilized prices. The government is trying to eliminate the role of middleman and essential items should be supplied to the people directly by the manufacturers which will curb profiteering.
He said this while talking consumers during his visit to Ramazan bazaars of Model Town, Samanabad, Sabzazar, Gulshan-e-Ravi and Gulberg. The Minister issued instructions to the administration to make proper security and parking arrangements so as to facilitate the consumers. He said that flour, sugar, ghee, potato, tomato should be available in Razman bazaars in abundance and negligence will not be tolerated in this regard.
During his visit to Samanabad, the Minister directed market committee staff that potato and tomato should be placed in front of the stalls so as to dispel the impression of their shortage. He said that maintenance of quality of flour is the responsibility of the traders and if the flour is found substandard or less weight, cases will be registered against the concerned traders.
