Lahore: Punjab Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed has said that the government is trying to provide quality edibles to the masses during Ramadan ul Mubarak and for this purpose, Punjab government has given a subsidy of five billion rupees. He said that the officials showing negligence will be sent behind the bars instead of imposing a fine. He said that relief will be provided to the masses at every cost and the artificial shortage or profiteering will not be tolerated. He said that the government is providing relief to the masses through lessening the difference of wholesale and retail price of vegetables and fruits.
He expressed these views during his visit to different Ramadan Bazars of the Lahore. The Minister visited Wahdat Road Ramdan Bazar first and expressed his annoyance over poor quality of watermelons and potatoes and ordered immediate supply of quality potatoes and watermelons over which the citizens thanked the Minister.
Later, Dr. Farrukah Javed visited Ramadan Bazar, Nadeem Shaheed Road and asked the citizens about the quality of edibles over which they expressed their satisfaction. On the occasion, the Minister informed the citizens to lodge their complaints at toll free number so that their problems could be resolved.
