Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Begum Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that women have an important role in the progress and prosperity of a society as well as country. She said that ratio of women is more than half of total population of the country and they are playing their active role in every walk of life. She said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has announced women empowerment package for including women in decision making process and making them socio economically empowered. She said that quota of women has been increased from five per cent to 15 per cent in government jobs besides they have been provided three years of age relaxation and their participation is also being ensured in private sector as welfare of women and development is a guarantee to a prosperous and enlightened Pakistan.
She expressed these views while addressing a seminar regarding Women Empowerment Package 2014 in the auditorium of Government College for Women Toba Tek Singh. She said that Punjab government is engaged in development of women in the real sense and setting up of women development department is initiation of these practical measures. She said that Punjab daycare center has been set up with ten crore rupees for the better look after of the children of working women. She said that 16 working hostels are also operating throughout the province and their network will soon be expanded from district to tehsil level.
Parliamentary Secretary Rashida Yaqoob said that capabilities of women should be fully benefited and the purpose of seminar is to provide awareness to the women about their rights. Later, the Minister accompanied by DCO Dr. Farah Masood visited Ramzan bazaars and lauded the arrangements made by district administration for the availability of edible items according to the rate lists.
