Lahore: Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that young generation should come forward and join hands with the government in provision of social welfare services.
She was addressing a seminar organized by PU Department of Social Work titled “Evolution of Social Welfare India & Pakistan since 1947” at Al-Raazi Hall.
On this occasion, MPA and Parliamentary Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazir, Dean Faculty of Behavioral & Social Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakar, Principal Law College Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, Maharaja Sayajirao University, India’s Prof Dr Bhavna Mehta, Incharge Chairperson Department of Social Work Bushra Naheed, seminar coordinator and Assistant Prof Sonia Omer, faculty members and a large number of students were present.
Addressing the ceremony, Zakia Shahnawaz said that the government was making efforts to provide maximum social welfare services to the people but the targets could be achieved with active participation of the masses especially the youth.
MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir said that Pakistan wanted to maintain good relations with India on equal basis. He said that both the countries must make efforts to provide maximum relief to their people facing various problems.
Dr Bhavna Mehta gave her perspective on social welfare in India while Dr Tahira represented Pakistan. Dr Zakria Zakar and others also spoke on this occasion..
