Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Punjab, Bilal Yasin today conducted raids at various restaurants at MM Alam Road Gulberg and checked cleanliness and quality of the food being served to the customers. Due to poor cleanliness and substandard food items, three restaurants including Xiwang, Mirchi and Café Costar were sealed. DG Food Authority Punjab and other officers of Food Authority accompanied the Minister.
Talking to the journalists, Bilal Yasin said that a fine of five thousand and eight thousand rupees has also been imposed on Xiwnag Restaurant on poor cleanliness condition and substandard food but still the restaurant is serving unhygienic food to its customers which is lamentable.
The Minister also visited the Mirchi Restaurant. The cleanliness condition and standard of food had not been improved despite a fine of Rs.30,000 earlier imposed to the restaurant.
The Minister also went to Café Coasta at Mehmood Kasuri Road and found poor cleanliness and sub standard items.
The Minister informed the journalists that poor cleanliness condition and substandard foods at costly restaurants in the posh areas are a proof to the fact that these restaurants are spreading diseases among the people.
He said that it is responsibility of owners of restaurants to ensure cleanliness and quality of food at their restaurants.
