Corporals grade upgraded from 5 to 9:Col. R. Shuja Khanzada

Minister Anti TorirstLahore: Provincial Minister for Counter Terrorism Department Col. R. Shuja Khanzada has said that corporals were appointed in special grade 5 but keeping in view the sensitive nature of their work and special attention towards training, Chief Minister Punjab has upgraded them from grade 5 to grade 9.

He divulged this while addressing corporals after completion of the first phase of their training at Elite Force Training School, Baidian, here today. Secretary Home, Maj. (R.) Azam Suleman and other high ranking police officer were also present on the occasion.

Provincial Minister said that corporals have been awarded special service cadre and any corporal could get quick promotion after showing his abilities. He told the corporals that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had directed Chief Minister in November 2013 to establish counter terrorism department. He said that Punjab government started work on it very quickly and chose the eligible candidates in a very transparent way through NTS.

Provincial Minister stressed upon the corporals to utilize all their abilities because they will handle the department in future. He said that promotions of corporals are being linked with their performance and any corporal could now rise to the post of Director General.

Provincial Minister further said that Chief Minister and people of Punjab have high expectations of them. He hoped that after getting nine months’ training in counter terrorism they would now be able to perform their duties in a much better way and prove themselves as the important counter terrorism force of the province.

Earlier, Provincial Secretary Home, Maj. R. Azam Suleman also addressed the ceremony. He said that corporals are being selected through transparent selection system of NTS. He said that training is very tough but they would become best force of the province.
