Lahore: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed said that Punjab government is implementing the agenda of strengthening economy by increasing foreign exchange, revenue, exports, sales tax and development of agriculture through promotion of research and development for the benefit of farmers and the people.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding controlling the prices of essential items in the committee room of the office of District Coordination Officer Sheikhupura. DCO Ali Jan Khan, Assistant Commissioner Raashid Irshad Hussain, EDO Agriculture Ch. Abdul Ghaffoor, DO Agriculture (Extension) Muhammad Khan Maqsood, Deputy Director Information Sarfraz Ullah Khan, Assistant Director Agriculture Rana Faqeer Ahmed, Deputy Agriculture Officers Muhammad Afzal, Rana Muhammad Mohsan, Ahmed Naveed Amjad, Anwar Javed Wahla, DO Water Management Sher Afghan Maan besides other officers attended the meeting.
He said that record wheat production of 19.2 million ton has been produced in the province. He said that 34 lakh ton target of rice has been fixed for the current year in the province. He said that Punjab government will set up sastay ramzan bazaars throughout the province for providing quality edible items to the people at cheaper rates during Ramazan ul Mubarak.
The Minister advised the farmers to promote tunnel farming for cultivation of vegetables, follow the suggestions of the representatives of Agriculture Department and ensure timely cultivation of the vegetables. He said that Punjab government will ensure provision of quality essential items to the people by setting up Sastay Ramzam Bazaars throughout the province. Later, the Agriculture Minister visited sastay bazaar set up near ghalla mandi. Dr. Farukh Javed inaugurated the newly constructed auditorium in Agriculture Complex and listened to the problems of the farmers. Provincial Agriculture Minister inspected the cemented nullah at Marh Bhangwan and drip farming at Nawan Pind, Ferozwala.
