Italian Ambassador to Pakistan calls on CM Punjab

Lahore: Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today.

Matters of mutual interest, cooperation in energy sector and bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting.

The Italian Ambassador congratulated Chief Minister Punjab on the agreement for metro train project and said that Shahbaz Sharif has given the gift of a modern transport system to the masses in the form of metro train. He said that Italy has expertise in waste to energy and solar energy and wants to promote cooperation with Punjab government in this sector.

Talking to Italian Ambassador, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan and Italy have close friendly relations. He said that there is a need for further promotion of bilateral ties between the two countries and there should be exchange of maximum trade delegations for this purpose.

The Chief Minister thanked Italian Ambassador for offer of cooperation in energy sector and said that Punjab government will take all possible steps for this purpose. Shahbaz Sharif said that work is in progress speedily on 100 megawatt solar project at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park and this project will be completed by the end of current year. He said that metro train project is a historic gift of China for the people of Pakistan and this project will be completed speedily and in a transparent manner while a high standard of construction will also be maintained.

He said that more public welfare projects will be started with the cooperation of friendly countries. Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Secretary Industry and Director General Punjab Investment Board were also present on the occasion.
