Lahore: Federal Minister for National Food Safety and Security, Sikandar Hayat Bosan has said that government is taking all possible steps for promotion of Halal Industry. Pakistan is one of major livestock producing countries of the world, he added.
He expressed these views while addressing the concluding session of 3rd Halal Conference 2014 at Expo Center Lahore today. The Minister said that we will have to strengthen farmers so that a large number of livestock and their products could be supplied in the international market. He congratulated Punjab Halal Agency on holding the conference.
Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin said that Punjab government is following the vision of making Punjab a Halal hub of the world and this conference is a step in this direction. He said that more programmes would be held in this regard.
Dr. Russali from Malaysia, Dr. Vinaiy from Thailand, Prof. Arscoso from Indonesia, Dr. Munir from America and other foreign experts said that Pakistan is fully capable to become Halal market of the world and there is a need that government should modernize marketing system of Halal Pakistani products. They said that they will make joint efforts for highlighting Pakistan as Halal center in the world.
It may be mentioned that an exhibition of Halal products has also been arranged and people coming from foreign countries will meet businessmen of the country to explore mutually beneficial business opportunities. An agriculture and livestock expert Dr. Hamid Jalil said that Pakistan is in a position to become Halal kitchen of the world in the next few years and efforts are being made at various levels in this regard.
The guests will also visit Lahore meat processing plants.
Ambassador of different countries also participated in the programme and presented their papers on Pakistani Halal industry. Earlier, Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, besides Chairman Punjab Agriculture Marketing Company, Justice Retd. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan addressed the inaugural session of the conference and inaugurated Expo held under the aegis of PAMCO.
Indonesian Ambassador and delegates from other foreign countries visited different stalls in the Expo and evinced keen interest in Halal products displayed at the exhibition.
