Democracy is strengthening in Pakistan:Hamza Shahbaz

Sharif has said that democracy and democratic institutions are strengthening in the country. He said that the fruits of democracy should reach the masses for the promotion of democracy. He said that Pakistan has suffered a huge loss in war against terrorism and the international community should acknowledge this fact. The loss caused to the country due to terrorism will be met with the weapon of education, he added.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the delegation comprising Swedish parliamentarians and traders. The Swedish delegation was led by Speaker Parliament Per Westerberg. Ministers, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Chief Secretary Punjab, Provincial secretaries and prominent personalities from various walks of life were present on the occasion. A luncheon was also hosted in the honour of delegation.

Speaking on the occasion, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that education and democracy go together and promotion of education is the top priority of PML-N government. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has brought educational revolution through setting up of Daanish schools, foreign tours of position holders, educational endowment fund and laptop scheme in the province.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is implementing a policy of good relations with all neighboring countries including India and Afghanistan. He said that PML-N government has promoted the culture of political accommodation and tolerating difference of opinion.

Establishment of government by other political parties in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa is best example of political accommodation, he added.
Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has learnt a lot from development and promotion of trade in Sweden. He said that we want to strengthen contacts and relations with Sweden at people and public representatives level. He also thanked Swedish government to help achieve GSP Plus Status for Pakistan.

Speaker Swedish Parliament Per Westerberg said that Sweden wants strengthening of democracy and progress and prosperity in Pakistan. He said that Sweden highly values the sacrifices of Pakistan in the war against terrorism and will extend every possible help and support in investment and trade sectors.

He said that Sweden is also following the principle of regional cooperation with its neighboring countries. He said that European Union is an excellent example of cooperation of the countries situated in one region. He said that energy sector is of great importance in Sweden.

Members National and Provincial Assembly, Ministers and Secretaries apprised the members of the delegation about the progress in various sectors in Pakistan. Gifts were also exchanged by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Speaker Swedish Parliament. Hamza Shahbaz Sharif gave painting of Hazoori Bagh to the guest. Members of the delegation thanked government of Pakistan on excellent hospitality.
