Lahore: Police has arrested three accused involved in snatching solved answer sheets and killing a passerby at City Chowk Bahawalnagar and recovered solved answers sheets, illegal weapons, mobile and a motorcycle.
According to details, on May 5, Superintendent Government Comprehensive High School Shahzad Mukhtar was going to deposit solved answers sheets of FA English in the Bank at City Chowk, that all of sudden two unknown armed motorcyclists tried to snatch solved answer sheets.
On putting up resistance, Umer Farooq s/o Abdul Ghaffar tried to hold of these motorcyclists and the accused sitting on the rear seat of the motorcycle fired on Umer Farooq upon which he died on the spot.
Immediately after the incident, Chief Minister Punjab and IG Punjab ordered immediate arrest of the accused upon which police team under the supervision of DPO Bahawalnagar Athar Ismail took action, arrested the central accused Muhammad Sarmad, Rehan Bashir and Ata ur Rehman Lali and registered a case against them.
During investigation, the main accused Sarmad disclosed that his English paper was weak, therefore, he along with his accomplices Rehan Bashir and Ata ur Rehman alias Lali decided to snatch the solved papers and after doing good paper, post by mail.
People, social and journalists circles have appreciated the efforts of district police.
