Statistics Research Festival held at GCU

GCU Research FestivalLahore: The Statistics Society of Government College University, Lahore has held a one-day Statistics Research Festival 2014 to highlight the importance of statistics in progress and development of a country.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman inaugurated the festival, while Punjab University College of Statistical Sciences Principal Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Kinnaird College Department of Statistics Professor Dr Saleha Naghmi, GCU Statistics Department Incharge Jaffer Hussain, Statistics Society Advisor Shan-e-Fatima and a large number of faculty members and students from different educational institutions were also present.

As many as 70 students from 10 colleges and universities including UET Lahore, LCWU and Kinnaird College Lahore participated in the festival and showed their creativity skills in poster competition of Statistics Research Festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that statistics was an important branch of science, without which no country could make progress. “You are the future of Pakistan, so prepare yourself today to face the future challenges,” he told students.

In poster competition, LCWU got the first position. Later, the vice chancellor gave away shields and certificates to the winning students.
