Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that Punjab government is taking far-reaching measures for women development as well as their welfare and protection which include granting of their share in inheritance, 15 percent quota in jobs and establishment of working women hostels.
She was addressing inaugural ceremony of a 50-room working women hostel, here today.
Member Provincial Assembly Malik Muhammad Arshad , Farzana Abbas advocate and a large number of women were present.
The Minister said that Punjab government is constructing working women hostels in each district so as to resolve their residential problems. She said that daycare centers will be set up in all big cities of the province during next financial year so that proper look after of the children of working women could be ensured.
She said that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a law has been approved by the provincial assembly for ensuring due share of women in inheritance while women will be joint owners of the houses with their husbands in Kathci Abadies.
Similarly, she said that 15 percent quota has been given to the women in jobs while this law will also be applicable to private sector in near future. The Minister further said that due to the efforts of provincial government, 50 percent quota has been reserved for skilled women under Prime Minister’s Loan Scheme for setting up their own business while 33 percent quota has been fixed under Small Loan Programme. She stressed upon women to come forward and use their talent and skill for national development.
Member Provincial Assembly, Malik Muhammad Arshad while speaking on the occasion said that Girls Degree College being constructed in Kameer is in the final stages of completion while ten girl primary schools of PP-222 will be up-graded to high school level so that educational problems of the girls could be resolved. He also demanded construction of daycare center in Sahiwal and Kameer upon which the Minister promised that daycare centers in the two cities will be constructed during next financial year.
