Pervaiz Musharraf should not be allowed to leave: Siraj ul Haq

jip metting 22-4-14Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Siraj ul Haq, has said that if Pervaiz  Musharraf was allowed to leave the country contrary to court orders, the government would be held responsible for that.

Addressing the special session of the JI central executive at Mansoora on Tuesday, he said there should not be separate laws for the rich and the poor, the influential and the common man. At present, he said, the rule of “Might is right” was prevailing in the country. The law was soft for the rich whereas the poor man had to spend whole life in courts to seek relief. “ We want a system in which a common man and Pervez Musharraf are treated at par,” he added.

Condemning the attack on Hamid Mir, he said the whole nation was awaiting the report of the judicial commission set up for the purpose. He expressed the hope that the commission report would be out in days and not in years.

Siraj ul Haq reiterated his demand that the talks with the Taliban be made result-oriented, the policy of dilly dallying should be given up and a clear and categorical stance must be adopted. Abandoning the talks half way was no wisdom because the very future of the country and the nation was dependent on that, he added. “If Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants an end to terrorism and anarchy, he will have to show both courage and prudence for making the talks  success,” he said, and added that the anti dialogue forces were spreading anarchy and unrest in the country to establish India’s supremacy and protect US interests in the region, he added.

The JI chief , who is also Senior Minister in the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa  government, said that a safe area for dialogue was the requirement of the Taliban as also the government. He said if the parties agreed, the Khyber P government could accept the responsibility of providing a safe place and peaceful atmosphere for the talks.

Siraj ul Haq called upon the government to recover the plundered wealth from the influential people instead of increasing the tax burden on the poor. He said that like China, stringent punishments must be imposed to curb corruption.

The government, he said, should immediately get the Accountability Bill passed  by the parliament and appoint honest and impartial persons in order to improve NAB’s efficiency. He said, many questions were being raised on NABs working and allegations of nepotism and favouritism were being leveled. As a result, investigation was not impartial and fair and the criminals went scot free. He said if the government did not ensure impartiality of NAB, the menace of corruption could not be uprooted.

He said, according to official estimates, corruption of more than Rs. Ten billion was taking place in the country daily, and added that only by controlling corruption, the prices could be brought down by thirty per cent and the facilities of education, health and employment could also be improved.

The JI Ameer also counseled the rulers to bring back their wealth from abroad as this would motivate others to also invest in the country. He said the government would have to move on war footing to pull out the masses out of poverty and hunger and to improve basis facilities, so that the general public was able to benefit from the government policies by the next financial year.
