Human organs transplantation business would not be allowed in Punjab:Kh Salman

Khawaja Salman RafiqueLahore: Kh. Salman Rafiq has said that all measures are being taken to eradicate illegal business of human organs transplantation in Punjab and for this purpose Human Organs Transplantation Authority (HOTA) is being activated.

He said this, while presiding over a meeting of Human Organs Transplantation Authority at King Edward Medical University on Tuesday. Besides, Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof. Dr. Masood, Additional Secretary Health (Technical), Dr. Salman Shahid, representatives of Law Department and other Members, technical experts attended the meeting.

Kh. Salman Rafiq said that trade of kidney through agents from the poor people is a stigma of our society which have to be removed at all costs. Kh. Salman Rafiq said that there is no culture of donation of human organs in our society. In this connection, the apprehensions and false believes of the people should be removed and awareness campaign should be launched to motivate the people for voluntarily donation of human organs to protect others lives.

The meeting was decided to set up regional network of HOTA to check the illegal business of human organs transplantation. Moreover, Endowment fund to cater the financial needs of the authority would also be setup. Kh.Salman Rafiq said that recommendations of the meeting would be sent to higher ups for approval.
