Government College University awards four PhD degrees

GCULahore: The Government College University, Lahore has produced four doctors of philosophy (PhDs) in the fields of Botany, Chemistry and Urdu.

The GCU Examination Department has issued notifications after approval of theses of Seemal Vehra, Arifa Zareen, Muhammad Akmal Khan and Muhammad Anwar Jamal.

Seemal Vehra got PhD degree in Botany after approval of her thesis “An Investigation into the Growth Strategies and Spread of an Invasive Exotic Plant, Parthenium Hysterophorus in Punjab Pakistan” completed under the supervision of Prof Dr Ameen ul Haq Khan, while Arifa Zereen completed her thesis entitled “Ethnoecological Studies of Wild Flora of Central Punjab, Pakistan” under the supervision of Prof Dr Zaheer ud Din Khan and Dr Muhammad Ashraf Bodla. Muhammad Akmal Khan was awarded PhD degree in Chemistry after approval of his thesis under the topic of “Study of ?-lactamase Inhibitory Potential of Phytochemicals from Apocynaceae and Compositae and Synthesized Ketophosph (on)ates” completed under the supervision of Dr Durre Shahwar. Muhammad Anwar Jamal was notified as doctor of philosophy in Urdu after approval of his thesis “Kalam-e-Iqbal Main Fikri Tasalsul Ki Talash,” while Prof Dr Saadat Saeed supervised him.
