Suspension of constitution is not a treason:PESA

Pakistan Ex-servicemen AssociationLahore: General Secretary of the Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) Brigadier (Retd) Syed Masud ul Hassan on Saturday said trial of army has been started in the middle of the Musharraf’s treason trial which is discrimination.

PESA has always supported democracy in Pakistan and promoted culture of accountability but it will never accept humiliation of defence forces by certain elements, he said.

Hitting dignity of Army is harmful to the nation, country and democracy which must be stopped, Syed Masud ul Hassan said while talking to Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President of the Pakistan Economy Watch.

How come former president Asif Zardari got immunity in Swiss case despite the fact that he stashed billions of ill-gotten money in Swiss banks before becoming president of Pakistan but former COAS and President Musharraf is not considered immune, he questioned.

The former military strategist said that parliament and all those institutions who provided Constitutional and legal cover to the actions of Musharraf are equally responsible for the crime but they are being ignored which is against the norms of justice.

suspension of Constitution is High Treason in Pakistan while it is not considered High Treason in US and many other countries, he  add.

Masud ul Hassan said that the case against actual traitor who invited armed forces of enemy countries against Pakistan Army has been deliberately put into the cold storage which is unfortunate as well as double standard.

At the occasion, Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that Indira Gandhi suspended Constitution and imposed emergency. That was set aside by Supreme Court but she was never blamed or tried for High Treason and her family is still ruling India.
