Photo CSH 01 {Apr12-14}Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain has said that those raising noise over Article 6 should also read Article 63 (g)which clearly states that any parliamentarian who tries to defame the judiciary and the armed forces or uses derogatory language, he will be disqualified from membership of the parliament.

This such a big gathering here today of the protectors of the country and law was ample proof of thriving and throbbing of our party, PML was not defeated by votes but by the Returning Officers, we will not allow Protection of Pakistan Bill to be passed in this form, Legal Cell has been established in the Muslim League House for providing legal assistance to the poor and destitute people, he added.

He said this while addressing a grand lawyers’ convention at the Muslim League House here today which was largely attended by prominent lawyers from all over the province.

Ch Shujat Hussain said that first requirement of law and justice was that all should be kept and seen at equal level without any prejudice, not that whatever article of the Constitution favours one it should be thrust upon the opponent and shut eyes from which ever article was against one, why the govt not proceeding legally against such ministers to disqualify them under Article 63(g) who were publicly admitting that they had delivered such speech against the army and we were taking revenge. He said that we would not have regretted if we had lost the elections through votes, all know that if any commission was set up or inquiry held at any time then every bag to be opened would give the same results which came in Karachi.

Continuing, Ch Shujat Hussain said, the reports about reorganization of the party as given by Punjab office-bearers Ch Zaheeruddin Khan and Muhammad Basharat Raja after visiting the districts, it was clear that our party was very much present at the grass root level and it should be made more active. He said that he expected from the PML Lawyers Wing that where the govt fails in ensuring supremacy of the Constitution and law there the lawyers should play their constitutional role.

Ch Shujat Hussain said that it was welcome indeed that the present Chief Justice of Pakistan has put provision of justice at lower as his first priority. He said that we should all try to make Pakistan a welfare state as envisioned by the Quaid-i-Azam where all citizens including the minorities should be equal and the State should protect life and property of everyone. He expressed the hope that the Chief Justice would take practical steps including setting up of a special cell to save the Overseas Pakistanis costly properties from forcible occupation by the “Qabza Groups”.

They said that due to ending of legal measures of tenure of Ch Parvez Elahi the people today were facing that neither roti was available in Punjab nor employment nor there was protection of life and property. They said that election of Muslim Leaguers representatives in the elections of bar associations was the proof of good work done during our tenure.
